What is Mixed Martial Arts?
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is an intense, combat sport in which competitors use a mixture of forms of fighting that include judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling Brazilian and Japanese forms of jiu-jitsu and others, to their advantage, in supervised matches. No single martial arts discipline is of limits.
Mixed martial Arts fighters use skills from a variety of martial arts system to form their own fighting style.
The used of the word became popular from the UFC or Ultimate fighting Championships. The UFC craze begins in the early 90’s when Royce Gracie proved his system of martial arts could beat any one single style. The craze began and fighters started training in a variety of styles to become well rounded in their quest to be the best of martial arts.
Some of the most popular forms of styles being used to make up mixed martial arts are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Boxing and Muey Thai. Many of the fighter have an extensive martial arts back ground including Taekwondo, Karate, Judo and Kung Fu.
